Accelerating access to urgent care: Cinapsis partners with Gloucestershire and BSW ICBs

We are delighted to share the news of our continued partnership with Gloucestershire ICB and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Together ICB (BSW), following the initial award in 2021. Through this partnership, we’re supporting up to 4,300 clinicians in the region to tackle record wait lists for care and speed up patient access to treatment.

Clinicians at over 200 organisations across the two South West ICBs will gain access to the Cinapsis app to help reduce the backlog, speed up urgent cancer diagnoses and improve patient access to specialist care through timely advice and guidance.

Using the Cinapsis app, GPs will be able to connect with specialist consultants at local hospitals, to share advice and guidance on whether a hospital referral is needed, or if the patient’s condition can be treated elsewhere -  whether that’s an outpatient referral, treatment in the community, or self-management.

GPs can securely send clinical-grade images, key diagnostic information, and test results to consultants via the platform. The specialist can then review the patient’s case remotely and help decide whether the patient needs to be seen in hospital.

This is helping reduce the number of people joining hospital wait lists unnecessarily, and helping patients access the right source of treatment and support, sooner. The Cinapsis app is already in use across 9 ICBs in England, serving 7.3 million patients, for a wide range of clinical specialties including dermatology and ophthalmology. In Norfolk and Waveney, use of the app has reduced wait times for specialist advice from 50 weeks to 48 hours.

So far, our technology has been rolled out to 200 GP surgeries and clinics in Gloucestershire and BSW. Use of the app could help reduce wait lists for over 1 million patients across the South West.
